What Is COPD & How We Can Help
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a progressive disease that makes it hard to breathe. COPD can cause coughing as well as large amounts of mucus, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and other symptoms.
COPD develops slowly. Symptoms often worsen over time and can hamper your ability to do routine activities. Severe COPD may prevent you from doing even basic activities like walking, cooking or taking care of yourself. There is no cure for COPD, nor is it possible to reverse the damage to the airways and lungs. However, treatments and lifestyle changes can help you manage this chronic condition so that you feel better, stay active and slow the progress of the disease.
